You had the sniffles
Tuesday April 15, 2008 at 4:41 pmIt was a Friday morning a few weeks ago. You got on at Myrtle heading into the city. I was already sitting on an end seat, nodding off to sleep.
I noticed you when I came back to consciousness and found you standing in front of me, your dirty blonde hair tied back while you listened to your nano. Me, I was the Asian guy w/ the black leather jacket and gym bags. I tried to be subtle but I couldn't take my eyes off of you. Despite wearing a black peacoat, you had the sniffles, which I found endearing. With your earphones on, I didn't want to creep you out by trying to start a conversation.
My chance came when you handed your nano over to your taller friend as he got off at Essex (which I found strange since you two had exchanged maybe one word the whole train ride). But being an ass, I hesitated. You started playing with your cell phone, texting perhaps? Two minutes later, we both exited at Canal, with me heading down to the 6 and you heading down the platform and, presumably, to the street. I kicked myself the rest of the day for not taking the chance to talk to you.
I've been keeping an eye out for you during the morning rush but haven't seen you since. Have I missed my chance?
